It’s not every day that LSS has the need and opportunity to engage in a capital campaign. In fact, as best we can tell in the York area, the last campaign of any sort was about 22 years ago, when The Village at Sprenkle Drive was being planned.
More than two decades later The Village at Sprenkle Drive is being enhanced – and in some ways really completed – with the addition of assisted living, memory support assisted living and an expansion of the Glatfelter Community Center. This major expansion project has required a major capital campaign to make it possible, which led to the “Caring for Those Who Cared for Us” Campaign – the LSS Foundation’s effort to raise a minimum of $4.5 million towards this multi-million dollar project. We have completed the initial quiet phase of campaigning, which began in early October 2013, and a three-month publically-sanctioned portion (January to March) in the greater York community. By the end of summer, we hope to have the bulk of the campaign completed.
How are we doing you may wonder? Throughout this time period the response from both our long-established LSS friends and new friends in the community has been tremendous. As of now, we have topped the $4 million mark, meaning that the goal is well within sight!
While the remainder may not seem like a lot of money compared with what we have already raised, the truth is that the last phase of a campaign is actually the hardest. Slow and steady wins the race they say, and this race is not over yet! Please consider joining us in supporting this project. There are many online giving opportunities or email or call me personally.
We are incredibly grateful to the York community for what is already a record-breaking success in this campaign. And, we would be equally grateful to have you help us meet and even exceed our goal in the coming weeks and months!
Yours in partnership,
